In our last episode with Lade Adunbi, he gave us two book recommendations:
The first book he recommended was Humor, Silence, and Civil Society in Nigeria by Ebenezer Obadare. Adunbi highlighted that the book examines the way Nigerians use humor to express the oppressive systems they live in.
His second book recommendation was Life in The Time of Oil: A Pipeline and Poverty in Chad by Lori Leonard, which takes a look at how the World Bank helped Chad manage its oil proceeds. Adunbi pointed out the book also illustrates the resourcefulness of the Chadian people — highlighting a chapter on waste management that shows how community members turn waste into wealth.
